Laetitia and Michael

August 5th, 2010

This charismatic couple were married July 17 in Newport Beach, CA.  After a church wedding, the wedding party was taken by limo and a Rolls Royce to Michael’s family home, and enjoyed an outdoor reception as elegant as we’ve seen.  With forever views and meticulous attention to detail, this is a wedding which will not be soon forgotten by those attending.  Coordinating for Susan MacDonald of Su Mac Productions, Inc. were Alison and Suzanne.  Ashley Video, Wildflower Linens and 24 Carrots Catering also contributed their talents to this wonderful event, and Larrissa at Inviting Occasion was the very creative floral designer.

Postscript regeneration into a new image

Postscript regeneration into a new image

I think it would be fascinating to do a series of these.  This image existed as a jpg of another image.  I opened the jpg in “notepad” instead of “photoshop”, and was able to see the postscript representation of the image.  It looks something like this in notepad:

<t«Ž  ¤FµP⎅КúHó Wf-*žªLü©ŠJ֝I5’<ˆð¯Ý‹¡@Ÿ’e(UNg#øšaÇãU‰ê{xSD—
Ÿ ¥SE@§–.D¶05-MÈ«®¤’ åÄÓr    ñ¥^J˜[ ¡i'HJHNGŽycžÎècc]¶Ò`ÆŒJ3¨È~l‡†9¦š[EwK2EæÒõXßf¸Ö´ê çT“¨ @¤ùãW2Ì/ÀW»N

Every photograph has different postscript information, and naturally the code changes with different images.  I then copied the postscript text from notepad, and pasted it into a blank file in photoshop and began playing.

The result is a new image, made from the postscript data of the former image.  Fun, huh?  I’ve been using this new image as my desktop background image.

Slot Canyon

Slot Canyon

I took this image on a recent photo trek (with my buddy Michael Goodrich) to Antelope Valley, Arizona.  This is a relatively short but breathtaking slot canyon, in Navajo country just outside Page, AZ.  It is also a fairly popular destination for tourists and photographers, and can be busy with groups coming and going.

If you check out google images, you’ll find that most Antelope Valley shots have that classic shaft of light magically beaming onto the sand.  I got lots of great images inside this slot canyon, but this one was my favorite; somewhere around the middle of the canyon, looking straight up.

Commercial Photography at Orange County Green Fair

Crandall Photography will be an official exhibitor in Orange County, CA’s Green Fair on Thursday, May 20, 2010.  The objective of the Fair is to promote awareness in the areas of sustainability, and will be attended by County employees, residents and procurement professionals.

Much of my website and current work is devoted to showcasing portrait and wedding photography.  However, many people are unaware of my commercial photography experience.

My roots are grounded in conceptual advertising and corporate photography.  I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Art Center College of Design in the 1980’s.  Early in my career, I studied under Julius Schulman and specialized in architectural exteriors and interiors with a 4″x5″ view camera.  I worked as a photo editor and production manager for two weekly newspapers.  I’ve done assignments for advertising agencies, real estate companies, and a host of corporate clients including Sony, IBM, Baskin-Robbins, Washington Mutual and Epson. I’ve also done photography for the County of Orange since the early 1990’s, when I began photographing nearly a decade of annual reports for the John Wayne Airport.

I’m looking forward to attending the Orange County Green Fair in a few weeks, and if you’re in the area I hope you can attend!

Time and Date: 10:00am - 3:00pm Thursday May 20, 2010.

Location: 333 W. Santa Ana Blvd; Santa Ana, CA 92701
