Tonight was a beautiful evening with rain expected by morning, and clouds building. I went to the base of the Huntington Beach pier and made this photograph during the receding dusk. It has some of my favorite elements: moving water, repeating shapes, cool tone. I find the process of shooting and the image itself relaxing. [Read more...]
Here’s kind of a fun exercise: It’s called layer blending, and is a process in Photoshop whereby you can combine two different images through a layer “overlay”. It’s a form of creative play since you never know exactly what you’re going to get; therefore the process becomes intuitive and can yield different results every time you try it, even with the same images. I’ve done a lot of these; here’s a recent one which combines a photo of rusted paint / metal with a close up portrait taken on b&w infrared. [Read more...]

Cocktails followed on the Vista Balcony, with a dinner/dance in the Vista Ballroom.
The reception decor was modern and the guests shared a unique cross-table arrangement which allowed guests a more intimate and interactive experience. Another portion of the ballroom featured casual seating, a martini luge, dancefloor with DJ and Photo booth. [Read more...]
There is an aspect about my experience as a visual storyteller which I believe sets me apart from other photographers: After the event, I continue to refine the story by designing the images into flush mounted custom books, which I also personally handcraft for each client. I have specialized in custom bookbinding for 18 years for my own clients, as well as producing handcrafted books for other professional photographers and their clients.
I designed the book below for myself so that I would remember this couple’s beautiful wedding at Mission San Juan Capistrano and St. Regis Monarch Bay, Dana Point. [Read more...]
